Equus 3130 scanner

I found this scanner easy to use. It came with a detailed instruction book on how to set up and use the product. It also has an extensive list of error codes to help with troubleshooting the problem. The ability to erase the error code was especially helpful. There was also a CD included which allowed you to set up a file for your car on a computer to catalog the codes and keep track of the repair work done to resolve the issue. Came with a nice carrying case which helps keep all the cables and scanner protected and stored together.

This thing works great and tells you instantly if your vehicle will pass an emission test, plus retrieving codes and live data is a snap and easy to read. You need to be a mechanic or mechanically inclined to use the information given, but you can definitely save on the diagnostic fee that the shops charge. This thing can be upgraded to read ABS codes for $99. If you buy the USB to serial adapter, it connects to a computer well. This was definitely the best price.

I haven't used this item too much yet, but I have used it to look up the codes on my van and some family vehicles, and it works great. I find that it tells what the problem is right on the screen to be most helpful. I'd definitely recommend this product.

Equus 3130 Great Product, Great Deal!

Wow! I can't believe I went without one of these scanners until now. This unit has all the features a DIY needs, and Amazon prices are unbeatable. I saved $60 dollars on the purchase, and I have already found and fixed two problems without a mechanic. Thanks for a great deal on a great product.

Equus 3130 Nice Scanner

Good scanner but a bit pricey and it doesn't monitor both my o2 sensor's like some of the cheaper Chinese models do. It may if I get the $100+ update but I seem to remember it will only add abs. Besides that, it has a warranty, it's well made and comes with all you need. USB would have been nice instead of serial though. All in all, a good device and you have the comfort of a warranty.

Equus 3130 Happy with the product

I purchased the 3130 recently and have already used it several times. The Scan Tool works very quickly to link to the vehicle and run the diagnostic programs. The written code explanation is nice, and it gives you precise trouble-shooting information when you actually do have a problem. The universal plug is easy to connect to the car's computer and the backlit display is a function that has been wonderful - especially when checking codes is usually done after work in the evening. It is amazing at how many friends' have vehicles with 'Check Engine Light' problems after telling them I now have a scan tool. So far, I have 'saved' several trips to the mechanic's shop, and fortunately, been able to resolve the check engine code issues by myself. Clearing fault codes after repairs is accomplished with the push of a button. Simple. Shop rates in my area are $90/Hour and the purchase of this tool has ultimately helped me keep more money in my pocket - and that is a good thing!

Very pleased, works great, and does what its advertised to do... would buy it again... was at least 30% the price of the same model in the store.
